Confirm the booking details
Check the exact address, pickup window and contact number. Give clear instructions if your property entrance is on another street or the car is behind a business rather than a house.
Ask whether you need to be present and which documents the team expects. Keep the quote and collection terms accessible, including any agreed conditions relating to access or vehicle inspection.
Remove personal belongings
Search the glovebox, boot, centre console, door pockets and spaces beneath the seats. Check for sunglasses, toll tags, garage remotes, work equipment and personal papers.
Remove child seats and accessories that are not part of the sale. If you intend to keep a particular item, tell the buyer before agreeing the vehicle price so the assessment matches what will be handed over.
Check stored personal information
Where practical, remove paired phone connections and saved addresses from the vehicle’s infotainment system. A factory reset may be available, but follow the manufacturer’s instructions and do not dismantle electronics to access them.
If the system cannot be powered on, tell the buyer and discuss the situation. Also remove loose documents containing addresses or financial information.
Clear access without moving an unsafe car
Move other parked vehicles and open the agreed gate. Keep children and pets away from the loading area. Tell the team about overhead structures, slopes and obstacles that were not visible in earlier photos.

Prepare the handover information
Have the keys if available and the ownership information requested by the buyer. Where someone else owns the car, clarify their authority and involvement before collection is booked.
