After recovery or assessment, an accident car may have detached panels and other components stored separately. A buyer needs to know what accompanies the vehicle. Define the package before accepting an offer rather than treating everything nearby as automatically included.

Separate four categories

List components as fitted, loose and included, missing, or retained. Identify the item and its location, using photographs if requested and safe to obtain. Explain uncertainty where a part’s identity or condition has not been checked.

Do not describe detached equipment as usable without an appropriate basis. A component being present is different from a component being suitable for reuse.

Check where recovered items are stored

Ask the workshop or storage facility whether keys, loose panels and relevant records are held elsewhere. Confirm what will be released with the car and who will hand it over. Keep unrelated items and another customer’s components outside the inventory.

If you intend to retain an accessory, tell the buyer before agreement. Removing something after the quote may change both the package and the collection requirements.

Ask what the operator can accept

A vehicle collection is not automatically transport for every loose or hazardous item associated with the accident. Discuss the inventory and ask the operator to confirm the accepted items and appropriate handling arrangements.

Leave damaged safety equipment, electrical components and sharp or heavy pieces to suitable professionals. Do not improvise packing or loading instructions for unfamiliar damaged parts.

Update the offer if the package changes

If parts are lost, retained or released separately, tell the buyer before pickup. Keep the current inventory alongside the agreed price conditions and collection confirmation.

For example, an offer based on a complete vehicle should not silently become a sale of a shell after components have been removed. Resolve any revised terms while both sides can still decide how to proceed.

SA Wrecker’s accident car buying service can assess the disclosed package. Discuss accident car removal with the component list. Our salvage car removal and wrecked car removal enquiry routes are also relevant when the vehicle is heavily damaged or partly dismantled.
