Years of storage can leave an old car surrounded by boxes, shelves and spare furniture. A buyer may be able to assess the vehicle, but collection needs a route as well. Explain the garage layout before accepting a pickup arrangement.
Show the route, not just the car
Take accessible photographs showing the entrance, vehicle position and surrounding storage. Include any fixed shelves, low overhead structures or narrow turns you know about. A close-up of the car alone does not reveal whether a collection operator can reach it.
Tell the buyer which obstacles are temporary and which are fixed. “We can move the boxes beforehand” is useful only if the boxes can actually be removed by the agreed collection window.
Separate clutter from equipment
Clear lightweight personal storage where safe and practical. Do not dismantle structural fittings, handle hazardous materials or move heavy equipment without the appropriate assistance. Ask the relevant professional about those obstacles.
If the vehicle itself cannot roll, has missing wheels or is supported on stands, disclose that. It is a loading issue for the operator to assess, rather than something to improvise around with household equipment.
Decide where stored items will go
Moving everything directly behind the collection truck’s intended position may simply shift the obstruction. Discuss the route with the operator and choose a storage area that does not block entrances, pedestrian access or the loading space.
Keep included loose vehicle parts separate from belongings you are retaining. Mark the inventory clearly so clearing the garage does not change the agreed sale package by mistake.
Confirm access close to collection
If the buyer assessed the site weeks earlier, provide an update where the layout has changed. Keep the entrance available during the pickup window and coordinate with anyone else using the garage.
SA Wrecker can discuss old car removal from the assessed location. You may also request cash for old cars or an offer for a junk car. Our unwanted car removal service is relevant when clearing space is the goal, but the collection arrangement still needs to match the actual garage access.
