An enquiry saying “good car, needs to go” leaves a buyer guessing. A small, organised photo set gives a clearer starting point whether your car still runs or has been sitting unused. The aim is to show its actual condition, rather than make it look better than it is.
Start with the complete vehicle
Take a view from each corner in daylight, if you can do so safely. Include the whole car rather than cropping out damaged areas. A front corner view and a rear corner view often communicate more than several close-ups of the same scratch.
Add a dashboard photo showing the odometer when available. If the display does not work, say that the reading cannot currently be checked. Do not guess mileage or switch on a damaged vehicle just to obtain a photograph.
Pair close-ups with context
For a dent, broken window or missing panel, provide a close-up and another image showing where it sits on the car. A photograph of a loose component alone does not explain whether it belongs to the vehicle or is included in the sale.
Show the cabin and boot without leaving personal paperwork visible. If an engine bay is accessible without handling damaged parts, an overview can help. Photographs cannot prove mechanical health, so describe known faults separately.
Photograph the pickup route
An accessible car in a wide driveway is a different collection job from the same car behind a narrow gate. Photograph the entrance and the space around the vehicle. Mention slopes, overhead clearance and any parked cars that will need to move.
Do not include identity documents, bank details or unnecessary images of other people’s property in a general photo message. Ask the buyer for its appropriate verification process separately.
Send a short caption with the pictures
Use this practical format: make, model, year, known mileage, suburb, running condition, keys available and parts missing. Add “photos taken today” where accurate. If the condition changes before collection, update the buyer.
SA Wrecker’s cash for cars service can assess your enquiry. Owners comparing a used car sale or looking to sell a car for cash can use the same shot list. For an unwanted vehicle, show how long-term storage has affected it. If it is unregistered, state that clearly and discuss collection rather than assuming it can be driven.
