A flat battery can stop you reading an odometer or checking a display, but it does not stop every part of a vehicle enquiry. Use the records and observations you already have. Explain which details cannot be verified and let the buyer decide whether further assessment is needed.
Give the last known information
Provide make, model, year and the most recent reliable mileage record, identifying its source and date. If you do not have a reading, say it is unavailable. A guessed odometer figure can create more confusion than an explicit unknown.
Describe the reason the vehicle stopped being used. Distinguish a battery that went flat during storage from an existing mechanical fault. The flat battery should not be presented as the only problem unless that is actually established.
Use current photographs
Show the complete car, known damage and accessible interior areas. Include missing parts and the current parking position. Avoid handling damaged electrical equipment or operating a vehicle against professional advice just to produce a photograph.
A sale enquiry does not require an owner to diagnose or repair electrical systems. If powering the car is necessary for an assessment, discuss an appropriate process with the relevant professional.
Explain access and keys
Tell the operator whether keys are available and whether any known wheel, steering or parking restrictions exist. Do not assume a flat battery is the only barrier to moving the car. Describe what you know and what has not been checked.
Provide the driveway or workshop access details so the buyer can assess collection suitability independently of the dashboard information.
Clarify the assessment basis
Ask whether the buyer can quote with the unavailable readings disclosed, and what checks remain before a final offer. If the car is inspected later, update its description with the new findings.
Enquire through SA Wrecker’s cash for broken cars service and explain the original fault as well as the battery issue. Our damaged car buyers can assess wider condition information. Discuss damaged car removal if transport is needed from its current location.
